What this covers

This policy explains what gainesvilleflorida.com collects, why, and what we do with it. It covers the Friday email list, our first-party analytics, and Google services enabled through Google Tag Manager. We keep it short and plain.

The email list

If you subscribe to The Friday Email, we collect your email address and the time you gave consent. We use double opt-in: you are not subscribed until you click the confirmation link we send. We store a confirmation record. Every Friday digest carries a signed unsubscribe link tied to your address, so we do not need to store a separate unsubscribe token to make it work.

The confirmation email and a business checkout receipt do not carry an unsubscribe link. They are one-time transactional messages, not part of the Friday list, so there is nothing to unsubscribe from.

We use your email only to send the Friday digest. We do not sell or rent your email to anyone.

Who processes your data

We use Resend to send email: the confirmation link, the Friday digest, and business checkout receipts. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell a human form submission from a bot on the subscribe, event-submission, and checkout forms, without a visible puzzle. The site itself runs on Cloudflare's hosting and database infrastructure. Each of these gets only what it needs to do that one job.

Cloudflare Web Analytics measures site performance without setting a cookie or tracking you across sites.

Google services enabled through Google Tag Manager may also process usage data as described under Analytics.

Analytics

We measure how the site is used with our own first-party analytics, stored in our own database. This is our measurement of record.

We record page views and a few interaction events, tied to a first-party session id. We store a salted hash of your IP address, never the raw IP, and no name or email in the analytics table. If you arrive from an ad, we record the campaign tag so we can measure what worked.

We load Google Tag Manager on every page. Tags loaded this way may collect usage data and set their own cookies. The tags we enable today are Google services, and Google's collection and cookies are governed by its privacy policy. Measurement requests may be served through this domain by our Cloudflare tag gateway or through Google's domains.

Event submissions and businesses that promote

If you submit an event through the Submit an Event page, we store your email address along with the event details, so we can follow up about the submission if we need to. We do not publish your email.

If you buy a promotion, we store your business name, contact email, and the details of your listing so a person can review it and send a receipt. In this version, checkout is a demo and no real payment is processed, so no card details are collected.

Data retention and deletion

We keep data only as long as we need it to run the calendar and the email list. You can ask us to delete your email address or your business details at any time, and we will. Reach the founder through the LinkedIn link on the About page.

Two retention windows are now fixed rather than left to judgment. If you subscribe and never click the confirmation link, we delete your address 30 days later. If you submit an event and we have approved or rejected it, we remove your email address and any note you wrote 90 days after that decision, and keep only the event details themselves. Nothing about the Friday list changes: once you confirm, we hold your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.

Cookies

We set one first-party analytics cookie to hold your session id. Our cookie is not used for advertising and is not shared with third parties. Google tags may set additional cookies governed by Google's privacy policy.
