About Depot Park

Depot Park is built around a children's playground, a splash pad called the Blue Grotto, a promenade, picnic pavilions and a conservation area. It was built on a remediated former rail yard and brownfield site; the City of Gainesville won a 1997 EPA Regional Brownfield Pilot grant, and Gainesville Regional Utilities excavated more than 147,000 tons of contaminated soil to a depth of 50 feet. The park was designed with ADA compliance in mind: its hardscape and gravel paths, its picnic tables and its parking meet ADA standards, though The Hill area has limited accessibility.

What's there

A playground, the Blue Grotto splash pad, a promenade around the main pond, a picnic pavilion, and a conservation area with wetlands and upland plantings.

Hours

The play area and conservation area are open 7 am to sunset daily. Restrooms stay open until 9 pm and lit areas until 11:30 pm; the office is open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, except city holidays.

Accessibility

ADA compliant hardscape and gravel paths, picnic tables, and parking spots in both lots. The Hill area has limited accessibility.
